What to Look for in A Mass Gainer

I hope that everyone is having an awesome year, so far, I know that mine has been staying busy. When I find that I am in a super busy time of my life, my nutrition takes a backseat. I know that I should implement some sort of system to make sure I am eating when I need to be but that is easier said than done. When I am pressed for time, I will usually reach for a mass gaining supplement as all I have to do is mix them up with some milk and I am good to go. Plus, it beats having to put together an actual meal, my laziness wins sometimes, I don’t what else to say. Being that there are many different mass gaining supplements out there, you want to ensure that you know what you’re looking for. Without further adieu, I present the three criteria that I always look for when picking out a new mass gainer.

The first component of what makes a mass gainer a good one is the taste, hands down. I will pay a slightly larger price for a supplement, if I know that it tastes good. I don’t know if some of the companies making our workout aids have tasted some of the flavors they make before but wow, some really miss their mark. Once you do find a mass gainer with a flavor that is preferable to you, it is like having your own little supplement secret that no one else knows about. I would say that a handful of the mass gaining supplements that I have tasted would meet the criteria of having really good taste. If you’re going to be drinking this powdery mix, multiple times a week, wouldn’t you want to have something that you enjoy drinking?

When discussing mass gainers, the next criteria that needs to be in good standing with me would be the price per a thicker youserving. One sneaky thing that can happen with mass gainers is not paying enough attention to how many servings are in each container. As is common with powders that help you to gain mass, the container looks full to the brim and like you will be all set for months, until you start reading labels and seeing that you only have five servings in that container that you just spent fifty bucks on. Resist your impulses and, before you take that container of mass gainer 5000 to the front counter, flip it around and see how much full sized shakes you get, per container. I don’t want to make it seem like the makers of these mass gainers are out to get you, they aren’t, you will just need a lot of powder to gain weight in such an easy way.

Finally, ingredients are essential to how well a mass gainer does for you. If you are fueling up with a mass gaining shake that is loaded up with filler ingredients and sugar, you won’t be gaining much besides fat. When deciding on a mass gaining shake to try, check the amounts of protein and where all of those calories come from. Of course, you will need carbohydrates and fat wouldn’t much hurt someone needing to gain weight but just be sure that you are getting everything in moderation, you don’t want to depend only on shakes for nutrition.

Aggro by Nutrabolics Wants to Heal You Faster

It is a little tough to properly classify what exactly Aggro can do for you. That being said, some of the best supplements that I’ve tried ended up having that same hard to explain quality. Sometimes, a cookie cutter solution just won’t cut it and that is where Aggro steps up to the plate. If I had to classify this supplement as anything, it would be a testosterone booster but there is so much more to it than just that. First off, let’s take a look at the ingredients, to find out if this product is a worthy contender. In Aggro, you will see many mainstays for effective muscle growth: d-aspartic acid, deer antler extract, tongkat ali, and alpha lipoic acid, just to name a few. I’ve heard mixed reactions to using deer antler, so I’m not head over heels on that pick but the other ones are solid and can make just about anyone gain more testosterone. I hope that you are ok with taking multiple capsules per serving, if anyone out there has used the Animal Pak, they will know what I am talking about.

For each serving of Aggro, you are required to take 8 capsules, which can be a bit on the steep side for those who aren’t familiar with taking them. I recommend that you have a glass of water on standby and if you aren’t used to capsules, think about taking one at a time. Sure, you could end up standing in the kitchen for a little bit longer than you had anticipated but better safe than sorry! Many supplements that are made to raise your testosterone will only have a couple of the wide array of ingredients that you get with Aggro. All of the powerhouse ingredients within this supplement could help to explain why the dosage is so high but I’m not complaining, I’d gladly take eight capsules to get all of these awesome ingredients in one serving. Since I didn’t have to mix this supplement up in a drink, I can’t speak much for the taste, you shouldn’t notice any real taste to the capsules, just pop them in and drink them down. As far as the training side of things went, I certainly noticed that I was tiring out way less easily. Honestly, I rarely felt like I was that exhausted when taking Aggro, it seemed like I could just keep on going!

Since I was previously told about how much energy I could potentially feel while using Aggro, I decided to not take a pre workout with it, as I didn’t want to end up feeling like I need to go puke! There wasn’t much happening in the way of negative events that happened while using Aggro, the only thing that I would mention is the possibility for increased patches of pimples, nothing too big. I found that when I noticed one or two pimples starting to appear, I would just scrub the affected area with a little soap and water and they would usually disappear within a couple of days. I thought that having to use eight capsules at a time would become bothersome but after the first day, it sort of just becomes something that you get used to. For all of the gains that I have been making, while lifting weights, I would gladly take sixteen capsules of something, if it came close to how I have been feeling lately.

Is Daily Amino Your New Favorite BCAA?

From the makers of one of my favorite pre-workout supplements, the Curse, Cobra Labs is back at it again with another awesome supplement that I wanted to tell you more about. Known as Daily Amino, this BCAA (Branched Chain Amino Acid) supplement wants to be your go-to product to get your aminos from, but should it be? I went ahead and picked up the sample pack of the Daily Amino supplement, not only so I could accurately test all flavors but also because it was a really good price. Made in three different flavors, as of this writing, they are: green apple, blue raspberry, and fruit punch. While not the most imaginative choices, Cobra Labs has chosen three stand out flavors, in terms of popularity, so it’s hard to fault them for their decisions.

Each serving of the Daily Amino supplement only contains five calories per serving, making sure that this won’t be a product that messes up your calorie goals for the day. What I liked about this supplement was that it was another, in the recent history of BCAA supplement to include caffeine in it. The amount of caffeine in each serving is 110 milligrams, which is the near perfect amount for some of us. Personally, I am someone who is one the higher end of the caffeine tolerance, so it would take a little more than that to fully energize me. However, I did have one particularly crazy Holiday season this year, so I went ahead and drank my first flavor, green apple, like I would a morning cup of java!

Within about ten minutes, I already felt slightly more awake from the Daily Amino, than I would from my usual cup of coffee. Best of all, I didn’t have to worry about burning my tongue on a hot beverage, as I have barely slept the past two days! As anyone with a larger family can tell you, the holidays are always going to be one of the busiest times of the year. Whether it be the constant driving, or family nagging at you to show up on time, December is one of my most stressful and least energized months of the year, I am simply being pulled in far too many directions. The green apple Daily Amino flavor had a nice kick to it, with an emphasis on a slight sour flavor that was well represented in this beverage. Next up, would be the blue raspberry flavor, my own choice for favorite supplement flavor ever. I found that the blue raspberry was delicious in this BCAA supplement and it almost had me ready for a second serving but I didn’t want to overdo it. Finally, the last flavor was the fruit punch option and I found it to taste very well. If I had to pick my favorite between the three flavors, I’d probably have to choose the blue raspberry but I am a bit partial to that flavor and always have been. If you are tired of your old BCAA product that you have lying around, collecting dust, than it is highly likely that you might want to give Daily Amino a look. For only about 20 bucks for 30 servings, it has one of the better price points that I have seen for a BCAA supplement. Like they did with the Curse, Cobra Labs is here to make their mark on the supplement world and, so far, they have done a remarkable job.

Clearer Warnings Coming to A Supplement Near You

It is happening, something that I’ve wanted to for a while and we are starting to see it get rolled out, which would be stricter warning for supplement labels. Right now, all of the attention is homeopathic supplements. The new labels will basically say that there no scientific evidence that these products can cure any disease. I’m paraphrasing, of course, but the new words are there to promote consumer safety, allowing them to know more of what they are about to get into before they buy said item. I had not known that much about what homeopathy even was, until I read the story about these new label warnings for that category of supplements. The study of homeopathy definitely has many who feel that this type of medicine is nothing but hogwash.

Could this mean that more labeling will be coming to other kinds of supplements, as well? Yes, as it turns out, we are seeing that there are new warnings being made for anyone who is using some of the more potent testosterone supplements available. I have always been under the impression that having too much information is greater than not having enough, especially when talking about trying out a new supplement for the first time. It looks like some great changes are being made to how informed the public will be, going forward. I don’t think that the homeopathic supplements will be the last stop of these new labels getting made and I don’t believe anyone is upset about that. The supplement manufacturers might be shaking in their boots, at least the shadier ones will be but I think that this is a great sign that the supplement industry is really moving forward. Likening it to the old days of UFC where there hardly any rules, with the addition of some rules and regulations that we would see in the following years, look at how far the sport has come! Of course, you can’t talk about supplements being regulated without mentioning the grand rise and fall of prohormones.

Being something that is slowly becoming a bygone era, we now have supplements that are becoming closer to full-fledged safety and quality, across the board. Correct me if I am wrong, but I think that we all start getting into fitness to improve our health, not to risk it on using supplements that could endanger our very safety. There isn’t anything the matter if you decide that you want to take something that will give you faster results, as long as you know what you are getting into. Rest assured that there, nowadays, are far more supplements that are perfectly acceptable to take, without any major side effects. As for that other small but dangerous group that has actually ended up hurting people, it looks like we’ve got a great organization that is setting out to make sure we don’t hear from those dangerous products again. At the very least, we will know by looking at a label the real truth behind what a supplement can and can not do. For those that weren’t aware, homeopathy is an idea that adding smaller doses of what would produce said illness in a person, to be used by someone suffering from that illness, much of the so-called science has been torn apart and had its effectiveness strongly doubted.

Your Sign Could Lead to Better Fitness Knowledge

Don’t we all wish that we could be more in tune with what we really want? I find that my sense of what I want to doscorpion bounces from place to place more times in one single day than I know what to do with. Sure, you can spend time finding out what kinds of exercise you will like and the ones you want to pass on but there could be an easier way, if we just look up to the sky. No, I haven’t become some crazy poet that is trying to use buzzwords to confuse you, it all comes down to understanding a horoscope, bear with me. A horoscope could be a part of the newspaper that you usually thumb through but I guarantee that you’ve never looked at those predictions the same again.

I can do my best to explain how this process works but instead of that I will walk you through an example of how your horoscope can help your fitness life by using my birth month for this example, which is November. I am a proud Scorpio, having that astrological sign, let’s see what it says about my preferred workout style and if I find that this prediction has any accuracy to it. What I was able to find out is that a Scorpio can have the mindset that causes them to become obsessed with an activity. I can tell you, right off the bat, the horoscope that I am reading about matches up with my personality closely.

I will have to rule out any team forms of exercising, which leaves me out of all of those fitness classes I read about. While I do prefer to be by myself when training, it was mentioned that I could enjoy trying out boxing, which I have always wanted to do. Oddly enough, I have been a big supporter of boxing, trying my best to catch a good fight once a week. With the tendency that a Scorpio has for obsessions, it was also advised that I have one or two cheat days, so that I can help to teach myself that it is fine if I don’t follow my new food list every single day of the week. Can you now see how understanding your sign of the stars can give you that newfound sense of discovery?

At first, I had laughed off thinking that a horoscope could give me any real answers that would have to do with my working out style. As you’ve no doubt seen, the horoscope and how it spoke about my personality was enough to freak me out. It only took a couple of sentences of reading about what a Scorpio is like and what kind of workouts should be catered to them before I knew that this was like someone knew all of my secrets!

I will really have to consider making new choices with the new year around the corner that better aligns with my personality. It may take some lying to yourself, until you are aware that these new fitness activities could end up being suitable to your needs. It does make sense that people are looking to horoscopes for guidance about what style they should choose to get more physically fit. The next time that you are looking to change up your old routine, check the newspaper for what the stars are telling you to do.

3 Tips for Avoiding Holiday Weight Gain

The commercials are starting with those jingling bells and now I am well aware that the holidays are near. Soon, we will be opening gifts, surrounded by friends and family. As this important time in our lives draws near, there will be temptations coming from the kitchen that we have to come to grips with. I know that, in my family, we are all about the food presentations and the holidays are the time when everyone is wanting to wow the other family members with their signature dishes. You also put yourself in a bind when, if you’re like me, you don’t want to just not eat anything and hurt the feelings of your family members. Having been around for my fair share of holiday get together events, I wanted to bring to you my best three tips for getting through the holiday season without gaining twenty pounds.

Tip Number 1: Eat Before You Arrive

One of the biggest pitfalls that can be encountered during the holidays is the long waiting times between meals. I usually get up in the morning and have to get ready, only to start out on my trip to a relative’s home. From there, you have to find yourself waiting for everyone else to arrive or the food to finally be ready to get eaten. After around four to six hours with not a single snack, I start to get cranky and feel like I am getting dizzy. Waiting too long to eat can cause you to overeat when that food finally gets to your plate. When our brains go into hunger mode, we will usually overcompensate by stuffing our faces, well past the point of being full. Those odd spells of starving ourselves, combined with eating like there is food running out adds up to extra and unnecessary weight gaining.

Tip Number 2: Know Your Limits

This tip goes hand in hand with the previous one but it still needs to be mentioned. It is human nature to want to eat more of food that we don’t get to have very often. We know that a special occasion is one that is to be enjoyed, when we know when to put the plate down we can easily take control back. When you are noticing that you are starting to feel full, that could be a time to strike up a conversation with a relative than it would be to start on round two of your eating binge.

Tip Number 3: Load Up on Fruits and Veggies

No holiday snack table won’t be without their own plates of healthier choices. When it comes times for you to load up your plate, you don’t have to look like a snob and only get one or two food choices. Better yet, you should be enjoying yourself this holiday season, just know the right kind of plates to make. By having a good portion of your nightly food intake destined to be consuming fruits and vegetables, your stomach will fill up with better caloric choices.

Getting through the holidays shouldn’t be a chore but rather yet, something that you can look forward to. Being around those special members of your family and sharing good memories is always something that everyone needs. Why waste that time obsessing about your diet when you can follow three easy tips and can look forward to those gifts waiting underneath the tree.

Can A Prohormone Affect Hair Growth?

Out of some of the oddest questions I’ve heard, it is rare that one will surprise me so much. Recently, a big fan of the site had been noticing that he was starting to grow hair faster than normal. I had told him that he might be imaging this and should measure results over the course of a few months, to really get a better grasp on what was going on. I had thought that this question could be a troll and wasn’t so quick to think that I would be getting an actual follow up, down the road. What I read, in his rushed response had me laughing and ready to help him figure out what was going on. The guy had spoken out about the times that he was needing to shave and get a haircut.

He mentioned that he could usually wait three days before he would need to shave his face and now it seemed like it had to be done every day. When he talked, so far back then, he had told me that he starting using something called a prohormone and was sure that this was what was causing him to turn into a person growing hair like a werewolf. I had asked the man if any other changes had happened in his life, especially regarding his diet and he assured me that all that was different was the prohormones he bought.

I kept in contact with the person that I’m talking about for the next few months and he noticed that his hair was still growing at a faster rate but here is the catch, he had stopped all prohormone use months before that. I wanted to be a somewhat good source of advice to a loyal reader but I was really starting to get stumped. After I told him to send me his nutrition regimen, along with any changes that happen during the week, I finally felt like I might have cracked the case and discovered a truth about myself in the process. What I had found out was the person was growing hair at a quicker rate, not because of a prohormone, but because he was consuming larger quantities of protein.

As you know, when we consume a high level of protein throughout our day, it does cause both hair and fingernails at a quicker rate. He had thanked me for being to solve his problem and I noticed something strange, I was being affected by the very same curious situation. As it turned out, I was getting haircuts like clockwork but I remembered that I had been seeing that staff far too often. When I had reduced how much meat was eating, partly to a change in diet, I found that my hair would be growing slowly. Who knew that an essential part of the food we consume can cause such an odd change to occur. To anyone who could be in a similar predicament, don’t worry, a prohormone can’t cause such a dramatic alteration to your hair.

Worse comes to worse, you could notice that your hair color may darken a bit but this is usually an exception and not a rule. It is always important to be sure that you are checking what you eat, just as much as any kind of supplement that you are using. Protein comes in powder form and in the food that we eat so you have to keep track of just how much of this important ingredient you are getting. If you don’t actively monitor your calories, you could wind up with long hair and fingernails without knowing what is causing it to happen!

Is Hypnosis Good for More Mass?

People have turned to all sorts of strategies throughout time to get big, it’s no secret. Over time, those of us have wondered about a certain way of thinking and tying it to getting better looking muscles. For a while, I had heard of hypnosis as a way to get the body to do some amazing things but it never occurred to me that I could possibly attain strength, through thinking. Sounding impossible, you have to alter the way that you look at hypnosis to understand this. Not the kinds of scenes that you are picturing of having a pocket watch waved in your face, this more has to do with the way you think. With attracting the thoughts or feelings that you tie to your weightlifting, it stands to reason that you will get what you give. Have you noticed that those guys with negative attitudes never really get too far with weightlifting.

I mean, you have got to be motivated to workout, you can’t just phone it in every single time, it would be impossible. There has to be within, some fire to keep you returning to your grind every single week. It’s not like a job, ninety-nine percent of us aren’t getting paid a single cent to go and workout so there has be inner motivation to get that done. I have heard many say that self-hypnosis does wonders on all many bad habits we all have, I’ve also heard it is amazing for weight loss, meaning that you can sometimes think yourself thin, I suppose.

positivityWhat doesn’t ring a bell to me is anyone trying it for more strength, I had to see if it would cause much of a change. I began my weightlifting my focusing on my thoughts, about ten minutes before a workout. I read that some would spend twenty or thirty minutes thinking but that caused me to end up taking an afternoon nap and missing out on my whole day, no thanks! I would rather just take a little time and during those moments I would remain focused on nothing but attaining new levels of being stronger than I ever have before. Wouldn’t you know it, within about a week or so, I was able to start lifting a new record for a couple of my more compound lifts. Shrugging this off as beginner’s luck, I continued to focus all of my thoughts for a brief moment in time to just getting stronger, picturing myself bigger than I have ever been. It might seem silly to you but I really love learning and applying the power that my mind truly has to all aspects of my life.

What is really weird was how often I enjoyed doing these pre-game mental warm ups. At first, I didn’t think that I would get far thinking myself to become a stronger person and that was the exact attitude that got me nothing, at first. After so many days spent spending thinking, you almost become smarter at focusing your thoughts, that is where the magic happens. Give it a try, no matter how cynical you might be, you would be astounded at what change a couple of minutes can make. Take it from a skeptic, there is a possibility that your mind can help you attain more strength, way better than most of the tired stuff out there.

An Old School Playlist to Keep You Moving

As we start to do our spring cleaning, there is an item in your home that desperately needs a makeover, your music player! I’m not going to list the songs that you have been hearing on the radio all of the time, I’ll leave that to someone else. However, what I did want to do was give you some awesome old school songs that can liven up even the dullest of treadmill days! The first song that I think needs to be on your next workout playlist is the classic Dream On by Aerosmith. We can relate to having a dream and Steven Tyler sings like nothing I’ve ever heard. Fun fact: I didn’t know that Aerosmith was the artist behind this song until someone told me, who thought I was an idiot.

When you listen to the Aerosmith that I grew up with in the 90s, hearing that classic doesn’t quite have the same vocal style, until the very end. Keeping with the theme, the next song that you should be adding to your ipod would be London Calling by the Clash. I could recommend the entire album but we will just keep it to the title track. Even if the lyrics don’t directly speak to you, that drumbeat, like an army marching through enemy territory, will have you feeling unstoppable. I love being challenged by the cool readers to come up with styles of music, so let’s discuss more old school tracks for your new playlist.

Next, I’ve got to give a special nod to one of my favorite bands, AC/DC. With these influential rockers, I could list just about any of their songs and get worldwide approval but I want to only pick one song per band. By doing this, you can explore each bands catalog of tracks on your own and find your personal picks, not just ones that I pick out for you. For AC/DC, I’ve got to go with Back in Black, it could be their signature song but it has withstood the test of time beautifully. From the killer riff, down to the vocals proudly declaring they are back, AC/DC will definitely have you getting through your next workout easier.

Not just a club that you have to be a dude to be in, I would suggest that Pat Benetar has some of the most rockers, I think that love is a battlefield should have a special place on this playlist. These are only a few songs that you could put into rotation, although I do have a neat trick for adding more variety to your playlist. Before you go out to the gym, getting all ready to set new personal records, check out the different playlist features of the music app of your choice. For instance, both Amazon Prime and Spotify have got some awesome options for sorting playlists by how you feel. You know that you can’t find the same joy in your sad and lonely playlist when you know you’re going to need songs that have a bit more edge to them.

I hope that you found some new picks in this song list, I have to add, as an honorable mention that living on a prayer would need to also be on a workout playlist. I know that you have probably heard this song more times than you ever want to again but with headphones and that driving bass guitar, you know it flips a switch inside of you!

An In-Depth Look at the Colossus Stack

I’m back again and happy to talk about a magnificent stack composed of two powerful supplements. This stack is for those who want a safe ending to their cycle with the addition of Mutant Cycle Support 2000. How good is this stack, you could be wondering. I will now present my review of the Collosus Stack. Now, this is a stack that is not to be taken lightly. I ran this cucle for four weeks and knew an additional seven days would be biting off more than I could chew. If you are new to implementing supplements that are to be cycled., I’d skip out on the Collosus Stack. Diet and exercise will play heaily into your results while taking this stack. If you’re looking for a stack to do all the lifting for you, look elsewhere. Considering that Methyl Alpha is an ingredient in Collosus Maximum Ganz, hacing the Mutant Cyle Support is a much needed partnership.

I had been trying out some newer movements, in order to better support my core. I knew that I would be sore, nearing the end of this stack. For some odd reason, it seems that I haven’t always had a desired reaction to the Methyl Alpha, it’s likely that I won’t be using anything with this in it after the Collosus stack. That isn’t to take anything away from the ingredient, it just gets to a point where you realize you’re starting to grow up. I’ll still love the supplements that I do use but when you’ve been big for a long time, different things start to take on new importance.

Anyways, before I go and get too metaphorical, it’s time to see how this stack did after two months. I’m happy with the Mutant Cycle Support. Being easy enough on my system to where I barely remembered I had been using it, this was a really good post cycle cleaner that made me feel great. It can get to a point, when using something like a prohormone, where you can actually develop flu-like symptoms. Making it tough to even move, let alone have the urge to go and lift weights, many men stronger than me have been sidelined for a good week. I felt right as rain throughout the two months that I was taking the Colossus stack. I would not use this as a cutting type of prohormone, I noticed that I was retaining water fairly easily. That being said, the massive retaining of water that was happening to me could very well have been due to the large quantities of water I was drinking. Being prone to side pains, I didn’t want to take any unnecessary risks, you want your body to be flushing out toxins as harshly as possible.

In summary, while not the biggest player on the block, this stack still can deliver with the best of them. You won’t want to run these two supplements at the same time, preferably a month apart for the best results to be expected. Get ready for you new favorite easy to use and safer stack with the Colossus, provided that you do some legwork. Stick with your usual routine and watch and how much quicker you’re ready to move to the next level. Known for taking intermediate lifters to joining that elusive club of the big three lifts with high numbers, you’ll get that much closer with the colossus stack.
